Requirements

Bachelor’s, Masters or Doctoral Degree in Occupational Therapy from a program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).
License to practice as an OT in the state of CT.
Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT®).

Inpatient Rehab working experience or affiliation highly preferred.

Responsibilities

Performs thorough evaluation of patient’s level of function, including upper extremity strength, motor control, joint mobility, soft tissue integrity, pain, balance, coordination, perceptual-cognitive motor function, and functional abilities of daily living upon physician referral.
Establishes measurable goals with the patient/family based on appropriate patient care protocols and critical paths.
Implements, delivers, and delegates patient care using appropriate interventions and clinical decision-making. Therapeutic techniques support everyday activities including fine motor skills, exercises for gross motor skills, and techniques to maximize function in daily living, leisure/recreation, and productivity/work.
Provides patient and caregiver education regarding treatment, precautions, and equipment use.
Completes all documentation, including evaluation, care plan and goals, patient status and progress, visits, patient discharge summary, and patient care transition plan and summary.
Participates in patient transition and/or discharge planning, including recommendations to community resources.
Coordinates patient care with other providers such as Rehab Therapists, Nurses, Social Workers, and other community resources related to care transition planning.
