Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, Masters or Doctoral Degree in Occupational Therapy from a program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).
  • License to practice as an OT in the state of CT.
  • Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT®).

Nice To Haves

  • Inpatient Rehab working experience or affiliation highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs thorough evaluation of patient’s level of function, including upper extremity strength, motor control, joint mobility, soft tissue integrity, pain, balance, coordination, perceptual-cognitive motor function, and functional abilities of daily living upon physician referral.
  • Establishes measurable goals with the patient/family based on appropriate patient care protocols and critical paths.
  • Implements, delivers, and delegates patient care using appropriate interventions and clinical decision-making. Therapeutic techniques support everyday activities including fine motor skills, exercises for gross motor skills, and techniques to maximize function in daily living, leisure/recreation, and productivity/work.
  • Provides patient and caregiver education regarding treatment, precautions, and equipment use.
  • Completes all documentation, including evaluation, care plan and goals, patient status and progress, visits, patient discharge summary, and patient care transition plan and summary.
  • Participates in patient transition and/or discharge planning, including recommendations to community resources.
  • Coordinates patient care with other providers such as Rehab Therapists, Nurses, Social Workers, and other community resources related to care transition planning.
