BC Centre for AbilityVancouver, BC
CA$51 - CA$63Hybrid

About The Position

The BC Centre for Ability provides community-based services to enhance the quality of life for children, youth and adults with disabilities, and their families, in ways that foster inclusion in all aspects of life. The Provincial School Outreach (PSO) program, funded by the Ministry of Education and Child Care and hosted by North Vancouver School District, provides specialized in-person and virtual-educational services to school districts across British Columbia, especially those in rural and remote regions. PSO specialists travel to schools throughout the province to provide direct and indirect services to students and classrooms, offering universal, targeted, or intensive supports including assessment and individualized support planning. Specialists maintain virtual connections for ongoing consultation. This position involves travel to rural and remote communities, with part-time roles traveling one week per month and full-time roles traveling up to two weeks per month, with the remainder of the assignment focused on virtual services. The role requires flexibility and innovation due to changing circumstances and potential staff shortages, adapting support methods as needed. Specialists may also visit homes to provide support or assessments if a student is not attending school. Building strong relationships with students, families, and staff is foundational, requiring responsiveness, innovation, flexibility, and a willingness to engage in reciprocal learning, particularly with Indigenous families.
