About The Position

The subacute occupational therapy services at Bruceville Terrace assist residents in rebuilding independence in essential daily tasks and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs) over an extended period, promoting adaptation and participation in preparation to transition to a lower level of care. Dignity Health - Methodist Hospital is a 158-bed, acute care, nonprofit hospital located in Sacramento, California. Serving over 80,000 patients annually, the hospital offers a full complement of services including a Level II NICU, heart care, cancer care, women’s health, and neurology. As an Occupational Therapist, you will help patients regain independence and quality of life so they can safely perform daily activities. Every day you will assess diverse patients (orthopedic, neurological, sensory, cancer recovery, etc.), develop treatment plans, and conduct evaluations/re-evaluations. You will be expected to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, document thoroughly, and provide positive, motivating care to a high volume of patients. To be successful in this role, you must be flexible, adaptable, exceptionally organized, and a personable, motivating team player.

Requirements

• Current license as an Occupational Therapist.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience as an Occupational Therapist.

Responsibilities

• Implements effective and adequate treatment following department guidelines
• Addresses patient/family education. Demonstrates a variety of teaching methods. Methods are appropriate to the level of understanding. Education is timely (initiated when patient/family capable of learning) and need is identified with action taken to initiate training
• Leads by example by providing necessary and appropriate treatment plan for support staff/student to perform treatment.
• Provides appropriate clinical supervision and feedback to support staff/students
