Gillette Children's is seeking a permanent full-time (1.0 FTE) occupational therapist to join the Gillette Children's Rehabilitation Therapies team. This role involves Monday to Friday day shifts performing outpatient care at the St. Paul 205 University Avenue location, with occasional coverage at other outpatient sites. Occasional weekend work may be required to cover inpatient services at our St. Paul hospital location. The purpose of this position is to provide direct and indirect family-centered therapy services for patients to increase functional abilities, independence, and community integration. The occupational therapist will contribute to department, program, and service teams to assure the achievement of desired outcomes. Specific duties are determined by the work setting or patient population served, but in all positions, serving patients with challenging and complex conditions requires a concentration of specialized staff able to work in highly coordinated teams. Care is organized around each patient’s condition, requiring staff at multiple levels and across many departments to exhibit exceptional teamwork qualities, including efficient and effective communication and adopting behaviors required for high-functioning integrated teams.
