About The Position

Tempus Unlimited, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that provides community-based services to empower children and adults with disabilities to live as independently as possible in the least restrictive environment. The agency encourages inclusion in social, recreational, family, and work activities. The Occupational Therapist conducts functional evaluations for individuals living in the community. Under the direction of the Evaluation Department Manager, the role performs comprehensive assessments and evaluations and provides recommendations to MassHealth regarding Personal Care Attendant (PCA) services in the home. The position covers the South Shore and Boston areas of Massachusetts and locations up to a 60-mile radius from the employee’s home address. Travel is required, with a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable personal transportation. Mileage is reimbursed. The role includes a two-day orientation in Stoughton. This is a full-time position of 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Compensation is $38 per hour. Employment offers are contingent on satisfactory background check results; checks may also be conducted on current employees as required by policy, regulations, or contracts.

Requirements

Licensed Occupational Therapist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, or an M.S. with a certificate in Occupational Therapy and Massachusetts registration in Occupational Therapy.
Experience working in home settings.
Proof of physical exam.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Positive, willing, encouraging, and patient attitude toward consumers.
Ability to work independently in the community.
Ability to read, speak, and write English.
Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable personal transportation.
Ability to stand, walk, crouch, and sit while performing job duties.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with people with disabilities.
CPR/First Aid training and certification.

Responsibilities

Conduct functional evaluations for PCA services according to MassHealth Standard Operating Procedures and applicable regulations.
Evaluate consumers’ functional abilities, including range of motion, movement analysis, fine motor skills, sensory-motor processing, and activities of daily living.
Analyze evaluation findings and prepare clear, accurate recommendations for PCA services for submission to MassHealth.
Recommend special or adaptive equipment, as appropriate, for children and adults in home, school, and community-based settings.
Maintain complete, accurate, and current documentation, including progress notes, evaluation reports, statistics, quarterly reports, and other required records.
Communicate relevant clinical findings, updates, and developments in occupational therapy to the Program Manager and appropriate staff.
Maintain an accurate, up-to-date weekly appointment calendar using the agency’s designated scheduling system.
Comply with HIPAA and confidentiality requirements related to consumer records and protected health information.
Report suspected consumer abuse or neglect to the Disabled Persons Protection Commission (DPPC) as a mandated reporter.
Attend required agency, department, and staff meetings.
Abide by Tempus Unlimited policies, procedures, and guidelines.
