About The Position

The Occupational Therapist assesses, plans, organizes, and participates in rehabilitative programs for patients with disease or injury. Using physical and functional assessments, the therapist identifies dysfunction, determines and documents a plan of care, and implements that plan through evidence-based modalities and skilled interventions to help patients achieve mutually established functional goals. The therapist educates patients and caregivers about treatment and care so patients can actively continue activities at home, and monitors and evaluates outcomes related to the assessment and plan of care. The role includes coordinating patient care with clinical team members, completing required documentation, monitoring the treatment activities of COTAs and aides, and supervising students after one year of experience. The therapist may also need to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather or disasters.
