About The Position

Orlando Health Lake Mary Hospital is a new 124-bed acute-care hospital located in Seminole County, Florida. The facility offers a full complement of services, including inpatient & outpatient rehabilitation services, cardiovascular care, emergency care, general surgery, orthopedics, and obstetrics. The IP & OP Rehab Department offers rehabilitation services for a full spectrum of rehabilitation needs, encompassing both inpatient and outpatient care. Outpatient services are treated at our outpatient clinic located in Longwood, FL.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an approved program in occupational therapy.
  • Maintains current Occupational Therapist license in the State of Florida-temporary permit acceptable.
  • Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.

Responsibilities

  • Treat injured, ill, or disabled patients through the therapeutic use of everyday activities to develop, recover, and improve the skills needed for daily living and working.
  • Evaluates patients, gathering data from the patient, physician, interdisciplinary team meetings if available, family and significant other persons and data sources.
  • Develops treatment plans which integrate with the continuum of care and have specific goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to treat and provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned caseload.
  • Demonstrates the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to their age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as delineated in the departmental policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates competency in the use, care and maintenance of profession specific equipment, observing safety precautions and providing verbal explanations of the equipment and its purpose.
  • Re-evaluates and modifies treatment plan and goals when appropriate, and prepares written documentation as required by the department, and the care team.
  • Recognizes and communicates when the patient has received optimal benefit from therapy.
  • Ensures complete documentation and accurate billing.
  • Adheres to State Practice Act and Standards of Practice.
  • Provides patient/family education as indicated.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
