Needham Public Schools is seeking an energetic, skilled, and warm Occupational Therapist to join their team and support their goals of supporting every child. This position will serve Newman Elementary School (K-5). NPS has a deep commitment to the success of its diverse students and families and to the professional accomplishments of its educators. NPS is committed to addressing equity in the district by focusing on improving academic performance for historically marginalized students and ensuring schools are safe for every child and free of bias, bullying, and hurtful acts that demean and diminish. The occupational therapist provides related services in the area of occupational therapy in accordance with student Individual Education Programs, as well as conducts special education student evaluations. Individual and small group therapy sessions will focus on fine motor development and sensory processing. Consultation will be provided to educational teams including general education teachers to ensure full access to learning opportunities. Parent communication and engagement will support opportunities for progress monitoring of application and generalization of skills. Occupational Therapists will participate in the development of individual education programs, data collection, and completion of progress reports. In addition to the work outlined above, this position helps support the district's specialized programs for students with more intensive needs, including the ILC and post-graduate programs.
