About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital – Gulfport is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU care to chronically and critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. The Occupational Therapist provides compassionate treatment to patients during recovery and supports their rehabilitation through individualized therapy, monitoring, discharge planning, and patient and family education. The role also includes supervising occupational therapy assistants and students and participating in continuing education activities.

Requirements

• Current state licensure as an Occupational Therapist.
• Certified BLS, or completion within the first 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Participate in discharge planning for each patient, including placement, patient and family education, and adaptive equipment.
• Supervise certified occupational therapy assistants (OTAs), as well as OT and COTA students.
• Conduct individual patient therapy regimens.
• Monitor patients’ responses to treatment.
• Participate in continuing education seminars and in-services.
