Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy.
Current Alabama OT license.
Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs without assistance.
Valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance.
Must pass a criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

In-home occupational therapy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Conduct thorough evaluations of clients’ physical abilities and needs.
Implement and adhere to established care plans to ensure consistent and effective therapy.
Implement targeted therapeutic activities to improve clients' abilities in areas like dressing, grooming, cooking, and other daily tasks.
Recommend modifications to the home environment to enhance safety and accessibility, such as installing grab bars or rearranging furniture.
Educate clients and their families about strategies to manage conditions and improve function, including techniques for energy conservation and adaptive equipment use.
Assess client progress and adjust treatment plans as needed to ensure goals are being met.
Work closely with other healthcare professionals, such as physical therapists, nurses, and social workers, to coordinate care.
Maintain accurate and detailed records of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and any modifications to care.
Advocate for clients' needs within the healthcare system and help them access resources or community services.
Provide emotional support and motivation to clients to encourage participation in therapy and foster a positive outlook on their progress.
