About The Position

This position is accountable to provide occupational therapy services to patients, including assessment, treatment, program planning and implementation, related documentation, communication with other disciplines and services, and staff supervision as agreed. Staff may care for all age groups from infants to elderly and is aware of the developmental needs over the age span and the appropriate equipment for all ages. This position must demonstrate a commitment of quality service to our patients, the public and our co-workers. Therapists will be accountable for their actions and strive to exceed customer expectations. For Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTA), this position is accountable to provide therapy services to patients, including treatment, program implementation, related documentation, communication with other disciplines and services, and staff supervision as agreed. Staff cares for all age groups from infants to elderly and is aware of the developmental needs over the age span and the appropriate equipment for all ages. This position must demonstrate a commitment of quality service to our patients, the public and our co-workers.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy program.
  • NBCOT examination passed.
  • Current Virginia State licensure required
  • AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire
  • Professional competency as a general practitioner as defined by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
  • Must have a successful performance appraisal and a strong commitment to the organization.
  • Must have a minimum of two years of clinical PM&R experience.
  • Must be team oriented with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must demonstrate strong multi-tasking, facilitation, resolution and time management skills.
  • Must be a full-time associate (.9 or higher).
  • Must exhibit exemplary customer service and a positive attitude.
  • Be a graduate of an accredited occupational therapy education program within in the last six months
  • This designation shall not be used beyond six months of graduation or by OT applicants that have received a failing score on any examination required by the Board for licensure.
  • Work under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Associate Degree Program.
  • Eligible member of AOTA.
  • Virginia State license required.
  • Current certification by the National Board of Certification for Occupational Therapy required.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates patients to for goal settings, treatment planning with implementation of the POC.
  • Record and document patient evaluation, treatment and progress to accurately reflect the services provided and patient performance.
  • Supervises therapy personnel/students as assigned.
  • Keeps current knowledge on new programs and treatments and/or participates in special projects in the occupational therapy field.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Lead department-specific Staff Meetings and huddles in collaboration with Manager.
  • Manage daily operational activities related to the departmental budget.(i.e. ordering supplies, linen, etc.)
  • Provides coaching and mentoring as needed.
  • Assists with performance appraisals and disciplinary process in conjunction with manager as appropriate.
  • Administers therapy care programs or portions thereof, as planned and directed by a Licensed Occupational Therapist.
  • Educate patients, patient's families and staff to increase knowledge, professional development and ensure quality care.
