The Occupational Therapist specializing in Lymphedema evaluates and treats patients experiencing swelling and functional limitations related to primary or secondary lymphedema, often resulting from cancer treatment, lymph node removal, radiation therapy, vascular conditions, or congenital disorders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Graduate of an Occupational Therapy Program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association
  • Current Ohio licensure as an Occupational Therapist (OT)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Healthcare Provider Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in clinical area
  • Experience working with lymphedema, certification with lymphedema highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and treat patients with physical, emotional, cognitive and/or psychosocial deficits which impact their abilities to successfully perform independent living skills.
  • Assess patient ability to safely and effectively perform independent living skills and design the appropriate plan of care, including type and frequency of treatment.
  • Implement the treatment plan using appropriate modalities and document subjective and objective findings of patient progress.
  • Educate the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits.
  • Direct and supervise the activities of support personnel.
  • Act a clinical instructor or participate in the education and evaluation of students.
