About The Position

The Occupational Therapist is responsible for providing intensive, community-based clinical services to adults (18+) living with severe persistent mental illness (SPMI). This role focuses on clinical assessment, recovery-oriented skill development, and the mentorship of future practitioners to ensure the long-term viability and quality of our behavioral health programs.

Requirements

  • Must possess a current and valid California Occupational Therapy (OT) license.
  • Must have a valid California Driver’s License and a clean driving record to be eligible for corporate vehicle insurance for home visits.
  • Must be able to pass a Department of Justice (DOJ) criminal record clearance.
  • Requires strong communication, documentation, and computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience or comfort working with populations suffering from severe and persistent mental illness is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical Assessment & Intervention Conducts comprehensive OT assessments and provides mental health services with a focus on skill development, meaningful activity, wellness, and recovery.
  • Delivers evidence-based interventions for clients managing complex disorders, including Bipolar Disorder and Schizoaffective Disorder, primarily within their home environments.
  • Provides intensive clinical or rehabilitation services, ranging from linking clients to essential community resources to direct therapeutic support.
  • Student Mentorship & Leadership Acts as a primary clinical mentor and supervisor for OT candidates.
  • Guides students through their field study requirements, ensuring the practical application of behavioral health theory and professional standards.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Documentation Ensures all services and documentation meet Medi-Cal requirements and daily billing standards.
  • Maintains accurate and timely progress notes and service plans in accordance with agency and state regulations.
  • Protects the integrity of clinical data and client privacy while navigating various community settings.
  • Collaboration & Professionalism Maintains cooperative and professional working relationships with clients, colleagues, and community partners to meet program goals.
  • Consults and collaborates with supervisors and case coordinators as appropriate to improve the quality of programs.
