About The Position

Patient Care, part of LHC Group and the Optum family of businesses, provides home health, hospice, and community-based services. The Occupational Therapist Assistant provides occupational therapy to patients in their homes to help restore them to their fullest physical ability. The assistant works under the supervising occupational therapist’s treatment plan and within the scope of applicable state laws. The role is per diem. The position offers per-visit-point and hourly compensation, with visits assigned according to patient and business needs.

Requirements

Current Occupational Therapy Assistant licensure in the state of practice.
Current driver’s license and vehicle insurance, access to a dependable vehicle, or access to public transportation.
For New Jersey: certification and good standing with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.

Nice To Haves

Current CPR certification or ability to obtain it within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

Follow state-specific laws governing occupational therapy in home care and carry out only the treatment set by the supervising occupational therapist.
Follow the plan of care and instruct and assist patients with evidence-based treatment within the occupational therapy assistant’s scope and applicable state laws.
Observe, record, and report patients’ responses to treatment and changes in condition to the nurse supervisor and physician.
Instruct patients, families, caregivers, and other health care team members in therapy-related areas within the occupational therapy assistant’s scope.
Function in home situations regardless of the client’s age, race, creed, color, sex, disability, or financial condition.
