This is a PRN (As Needed) position in an Outpatient Clinic. The primary role of the Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) is to assist in the treatment of patients under the direction of an Occupational Therapist and to be an active participant in the treatment team. The position supports the Village’s mission, values, and service/hospitality expectations and requires completion of required training. The COTA will provide treatment to patients as directed by the Occupational Therapist, instruct families and staff in maintenance programs, and communicate patient progress, problems, and plans to supervisors and other interdisciplinary team members. They will also communicate with patients and responsible parties regarding the treatment program, teach patients and families about the plan of care, and participate in patient-care conferences and weekly rehabilitation meetings. Documentation of treatment and charges must be maintained in compliance with policies and regulations. The role also involves assisting with cleaning and maintenance of the treatment area and department, ensuring proper equipment operation, and providing community-based services such as health and wellness activities as required. Participation in facility in-service training programs and adherence to all safety regulations are also key responsibilities. The associate must handle stress well, get along with others, and maintain acceptable standards of workplace conduct. While the listed responsibilities are primary, other duties may be assigned by the supervisor as needed.
