About The Position

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Occupational Therapist Assistant program.
• Current and valid state licensure or certification as an Occupational Therapist Assistant in the United States.
• Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic techniques relevant to occupational therapy.
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Ability to follow detailed treatment plans and document patient progress accurately.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills daily to build rapport with patients and collaborate effectively with occupational therapists and other healthcare professionals.
• Critical thinking and observational skills are essential for monitoring patient responses to therapy and adjusting interventions as needed under supervision.
• Technical skills are applied when using therapeutic equipment and assistive devices to facilitate patient progress.
• Organizational skills ensure accurate documentation and maintenance of treatment areas, supporting compliance with healthcare regulations.
• Empathy and patience are vital soft skills that enable the OTA to motivate and encourage patients throughout their rehabilitation journey.

Responsibilities

• Assist occupational therapists in implementing individualized treatment plans designed to improve patients' functional abilities.
• Provide direct therapeutic interventions to patients, including exercises, activities, and adaptive techniques to enhance daily living skills.
• Monitor and document patient progress, reporting any changes or concerns to the supervising occupational therapist.
• Prepare and maintain treatment areas and equipment to ensure a safe and effective therapeutic environment.
• Educate patients and their families on therapeutic activities and strategies to support continued progress outside of therapy sessions.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Adhere to all regulatory, ethical, and organizational standards related to patient care and confidentiality.
