About The Position

Valor Healthcare, through its occupational clinics, assists employers with the work-related health needs of their employees. These clinics focus on injury and illness prevention and treatment, ergonomic evaluations, holistic wellness, safety education, and drug-free workplace programs. They also work to recuperate employees who have been injured back to health and productivity. This PRN position is located in Kokomo, IN.

Requirements

Licensed to practice medicine in the State where he or she is assigned.
Unrestricted IN state license to practice as an NP.
3 years of experience in Occupational Medicine as an NP, preferably in an industrial setting, although will accept Emergency Room or Urgent Care experience within the last year.
Knowledge of and experience working with OSHA and workers’ compensation.

Nice To Haves

Board Certified in Occupational Medicine, or leading toward certification.

Responsibilities

Manage the Medical Department with administrative duties and responsibilities in the direction of assigned staff and in support of plant goals and objectives.
Provide advice and counsel to plant management on matters of occupational health.
Support the Scope of Services for the on-site occupational provider.
Be knowledgeable in OSHA record keeping and compliance.
Manage disability and workers compensation cases.
Respond to emergencies anywhere on the plant premises and participate in emergency drills.
Provide advisory and consulting services to Plant Management, Chief Physician, and Corporate Medical Operations.
Conduct clinical responsibilities for employee health, considering the working environment, materials, processes, and preventive measures.
Conduct periodic physical exams to determine work capacity and monitor worker health.
Assist in the implementation of medical programs and procedures in compliance with federal and state regulatory standards.
Adhere to high standards of professional ethics and all pertinent State and Federal laws governing the practice of medicine or nursing.
Monitor preventive maintenance on existing and future medical equipment and direct staff for corrective action/repair.
Provide regular audits of supplies and equipment.
Participate in chart audits.
Fill in at other local plants to ensure priority coverage.
Transfer to other local plants to meet business needs.
Provide support or telemedicine visits to other plants to meet business needs.
Attend a health and safety conference annually.
Train in the use of Cority, the electronic medical record system, if not already proficient.
