About The Position

The Occ Med Assistant is a Medical Assistant that in addition to their regular Medical Assistant responsibilities will also complete supplemental Occ Med duties for their clinic during their regularly scheduled clinical hours. The Occ Med assistant will perform important tasks in support of patient care, and are therefore an integral part of successful health outcomes and efficient Occ Med workflows. This role involves supporting patient care, ensuring efficient Occupational Medicine workflows, and potentially assisting with new account training and process improvement.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Certificate from a Certified Medical Assistant program
  • 1+ year experience in a medical office
  • X-ray experience (RT or LXMO)

  • Urgent care experience is a bonus!

Responsibilities

  • Work as Medical Assistant to complete weekly Occ Med appointments and all follow up work as needed
  • Complete all Occ Med scanning into EMR; results to be in system within 24 hours of visit
  • Send Occ Med results to employers per protocol
  • Work with all Occ Med patients on Clockwise/scheduling queue. Work together as a team, but own your queue of Occupational Medicine visits.
  • Ensures appointments are set correctly on schedule, and that all necessary Authorization Forms or protocols are being appropriately followed.
  • Assistant will ensure a smooth Occ Med workflow; getting Occ Med appointments in and through the clinic with the least amount of disturbance and wait time.
  • Tasked with scheduling follow ups or return visits for patients.
  • Assists with communication between clinics, clients, and Sales Department team & managers
  • Serve as a point person to reach out to clinics when results are not received or need changes.
  • Assists in training of staff for new Occ Med accounts where new forms/tests are being performed
  • Operates within established parameters and influences development and/or decisions regarding new policy or guidelines. Must exhibit authority within scope of responsibility and requires innovation/tenacity to improve internal processes.
  • Be the right hand to our providers — assist in procedures and deliver exceptional care
  • Own the triage process: take vitals, assess needs, and help patients feel at ease
  • Draw blood, give vaccines, run drug screens, and set up EKGs
  • Dive into occupational health services and physicals — from start to finish
  • Keep patient records sharp and up-to-date in our EMR system (we use Experity)
  • Keep the clinic humming by stocking supplies and prepping equipment
  • Make sure everything’s running smoothly with daily checks on meds, supplies, and sterilization logs
  • Be a key communication bridge — help patients get the info they need, fast
  • Flex your versatility by jumping in at the front desk when needed (scheduling, check-ins, insurance)
  • Be ready for anything — pitch in where needed and grow while doing it!
  • Follow selected Calibration Schedule report and ensure selected equipment is calibrated on a regular schedule basis
  • Document Calibration schedule & results in Calibration Report
  • Work to communicate any needed Occ Med supplies in clinic.
  • Communicate any issues or abnormalities on POs to Sales Managers for prompt attention
  • Report any issues and possible errors to Clinic Manager and Occ Med Sales Manager.
