About The Position

Apex Companies is a rapidly growing EHS consulting firm seeking a motivated self-starter for an Occupational/Industrial Safety Professional role. This position focuses on employee accident prevention through workplace assessments and safety program management. The role involves executing occupational safety projects from start to finish at client sites, with a blend of employee injury exposure assessments and safety program effectiveness evaluations. While the primary focus is industrial/occupational safety, knowledge in Ergonomics and Industrial Hygiene is desirable. The incumbent will also provide project leadership and management, acting as an energetic self-starter capable of working independently and delivering results within budget and timeframe. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred – ideally, in a science or engineering field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience required, working in the occupational safety / employee accident prevention field.
  • Active Secret Security clearance highly preferred (or willing to go through process with us to get one).
  • Experience in manufacturing-&-assembly industries / heavy industry settings a plus.
  • Experience in the aerospace and defense or automotive industry a further plus.
  • Possess an extensive knowledge of occupational safety technical subject matter and how to apply it in real-life settings.
  • Highly familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the occupational safety field.
  • Strong technical knowledge in areas such as: Shop Floor Hazard Identification Surveys, Job Safety Analysis / Job Hazard Analysis, Employee Injury Data Analysis, Machine Guarding, Slip/Trip/Fall Prevention, Falls from Elevation, Lockout/Tagout & Energized Electrical Equipment Safety, Confined Space Entry, Personal Protective Equipment, Safety Committees & Conducting Safety Meetings/Training, Powered Industrial Truck Safety, Contractor Safety, and broad spectrum OSHA Regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • A great deal of creativity and self-starter initiative is required.
  • Ensures compliance with all EHS regulations and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization.
  • Strong technical writing skills, the ability to successfully multi-task, safety awareness, and a good record and understanding of safe work practices.
  • Experience with data management and report preparation.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) professional accreditation.
  • General base of knowledge in Ergonomics and Industrial Hygiene is also desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Providing comprehensive occupational safety consulting services to clients.
  • Conducting shop floor observations focused on identifying, assessing and risk-ranking employee exposures to injury.
  • Devising solution options aimed at mitigating employee injury exposures.
  • Providing clients with hands-on assistance with implementation of chosen solutions.
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of solutions implemented.
  • Tracking and analyzing clients’ employee injury experience, looking for trends, common themes, and potential high leverage accident prevention activities.
  • Coordinating and executing industrial safety projects within set organizational procedures and standards in collaboration with Apex project managers.
  • Designing, implementing, and executing an agreed-to service plan in close collaboration with the external customer, monitoring and reporting progress.
  • Acting as an advisor to the customer on occupational safety issues.
  • Providing input to project managers, client relationship managers, or business development staff on potential new EHS projects.
  • Participating in business development activities as directed.
