Responsible for developing, implementing, administering, and continuously improving the Jacksonville Aviation Authority’s comprehensive Health and Safety Program across the four airport locations. This position manages the JAA’s Occupational Health and Safety Program, including certain aspects of the organization’s Operational Risk Management (ORM), to promote a proactive safety culture, reduce workplace injuries, and ensure regulatory compliance. This position develops safety policies and procedures, monitors various Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) processes, conducts inspections and investigations, manages safety training initiatives, analyzes safety data and trends, and collaborates with department leadership to identify and mitigate operational risks. Work is performed in an office environment, though the employee must frequently be in the field or at the various airport locations. The work is performed under limited supervision where work assignments are subject to established procedures, practices, and standards. However, the employee plans and organizes the work and determines appropriate priorities, and the work is reviewed usually after-the-fact in terms of quality, timeliness, compatibility with other work assignments, and effectiveness in supporting departmental goals and objectives. Reports to the Chief Compliance Officer.
