About The Position

Longenecker & Associates (L&A), a Geosyntec Company, is seeking a motivated Occupational Health Physician to provide comprehensive occupational medicine services in support of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) mission at PanTeXas Deterrence in Amarillo, TX. Geosyntec is an international engineering and consulting firm known for its technical leadership and client service. This role involves providing medical oversight, evaluation, and clinical services for DOE employees, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and DOE-specific laws, regulations, and standards governing worker health and safety. The position is approximately 70% clinical and 30% administrative, with up to a 40-hour work week and limited call. The clinic is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) and staffed by a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements

  • Must be a licensed physician (Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)).
  • Must possess a Texas medical license before commencing employment.
  • Must be current in all plant-required employee/contractor training.
  • Must obtain certification to administer DOT Physicals within 3-6 months of start.
  • Must have BLS certification upon start date.
  • Must have ACLS certification upon start date or within 3 months of hire.
  • Board certified in Occupational Medicine.
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to federal contract security requirements.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a federal background investigation to secure and maintain DOE Q security clearance.
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing.

Nice To Haves

  • May be asked to obtain certification as a Medical Review Officer.

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical oversight, evaluation, and clinical services for DOE employees.
  • Conduct occupational medical examinations.
  • Perform medical surveillance and fitness-for-duty evaluations.
  • Evaluate and manage on-the-job injuries and illnesses.
  • Provide regulatory compliance support.
  • Offer medical program oversight and consultation.
  • Coordinate emergency medical response (as applicable).
  • Diagnose and treat work-related illnesses and injuries.
  • Conduct pre-employment physicals and check-ups.
  • Provide treatment for work-connected illnesses and medical/surgical care in industrial accident or disease cases.
  • Attend patients in the plant and reexamine disability cases periodically.
  • Oversee the maintenance of case histories, health examination reports, and other medical records.
  • Formulate and administer health programs.
  • Inspect the plant and make recommendations regarding sanitation and elimination of health hazards.
  • Review clinical records, drug screens, and health examination reports to determine fitness for duty.
  • Implement and maintain health programs mandated by DOE or other regulatory authorities.
  • Make recommendations to mitigate safety and health hazards.
  • Potentially be responsible for a central company hospital/clinic at the plant location.
  • Recommend medical and health policies to avoid injury and disease.
  • Provide coverage for the site in the absence of the Site Occupational Medical Director (SOMD).
