The purpose of this Statement of Work (SOW) is to define the requirements, duties, and responsibilities for an Occupational Health Physician to provide comprehensive occupational medicine services in support of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) mission. Services shall ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and DOE-specific laws, regulations, and standards governing worker health and safety. The Occupational Health Physician shall provide medical oversight, evaluation, and clinical services for DOE employees. Services include, but are not limited to: Occupational medical examinations, Medical surveillance and fitness-for-duty evaluations, On-the-job Injury and illness evaluation and management, Regulatory compliance support, Medical program oversight and consultation, Emergency medical response coordination (as applicable). All services shall be performed in accordance with DOE Orders, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Texas state law, and Pantex confidentiality requirements.

Requirements

  • Must be a licensed physician (Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)).
  • Must possess a Texas medical license before commencing employment.
  • Must be a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine.
  • Must be a licensed physician.

  • The Designated Physician provided under this contract shall remain current in all plant required employee/contractor training.
  • Must obtain certification to administer DOT Physicals within 3-6 months of start.
  • Must have BLS certification upon start date.
  • Must have ACLS certification upon start date or within 3 months of hire.
  • Board certified in Occupational Medical
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.
  • Ability to work in a diverse work environment.
  • Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a background check and drug screening in accordance with Federal requirements.
  • Ability to fulfill and promote L&A core values.

Nice To Haves

  • May be asked to obtain certification as a Medical Review Officer.
  • TX Licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses and treats work-related illnesses and injuries of employees and conducts fitness-for-duty physical examinations.
  • Directly supports management of the company's internal employee-oriented medical activities by conducting pre-employment physicals, check-ups, treatment of work-connected illnesses, and providing medical and surgical care in industrial accident or disease cases.
  • Attends patients in plant and reexamines disability cases periodically to verify progress.
  • Oversees maintenance of case histories, health examination reports, and other medical records.
  • Formulates and administers health programs.
  • Inspects plant and makes recommendations regarding sanitation and elimination of health hazards.
  • Practices ambulatory occupational medicine by: 1) Treating illnesses and injury occurring to plant employees, 2) Performing new hire and periodic exams. 3) Reviewing clinical records, drug screens, and health examination reports to determine fitness for duty. 4) Implementing and maintaining health programs mandated by DOE or other regulatory authority. 5) Making recommendations to mitigate safety and health hazards.
  • May be responsible for a central company hospital/clinic at plant location.
  • May recommend medical and health policies to avoid injury and disease.
  • May be required to provide coverage for the site in the absence of the Site Occupational Medical Director (SOMD).
