Kiihealth is seeking an Occupational Health Nurse to join its team, supporting a client site in Elora, Ontario. In this role, the Occupational Health Nurse will provide comprehensive health services to employees, including health surveillance (e.g., vision, hearing, and physical assessments), health education, promotion of wellness initiatives, treatment of illness and injury, and follow-up care. This is an on-site position with afternoon to evening shifts, Monday through Friday.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of nursing experience; experience in occupational health nursing is preferred.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Experience in disability case management.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Human Rights legislation, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), Employment Equity Act, and Duty to Accommodate.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or equivalent education is considered an asset.
  • Certification in Occupational Health Nursing, or willingness to obtain certification when eligible.
  • Willingness to obtain licensure in additional provinces, if required.
  • Occupational Health Nursing certification (COHN-C) or related coursework.
  • Previous experience in an occupational health setting.

Responsibilities

  • Manage occupational injury and illness claims (WSIB), including documentation, submission of required forms, and ongoing case updates.
  • Coordinate return-to-work and work reintegration programs for both occupational and non-occupational claims (STD/LTD).
  • Administer personal medical leave and return-to-work planning.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential electronic health records for all employees.
  • Monitor and track employees receiving treatment for workplace-related illnesses and injuries.
  • Oversee the Medical Surveillance Program in collaboration with the site physician, including fit-for-duty assessments, immunizations, pulmonary function testing, audiometric testing, and respirator fit testing.
  • Prepare and report occupational health metrics as required.
  • Provide health and wellness consultations and recommend referrals where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) to support ergonomic assessments and workplace accommodations.
  • Deliver emergency response care and maintain First Aid, CPR, and AED readiness.
  • Collaborate with physicians and external healthcare providers to support treatment planning.
  • Lead and support workplace wellness initiatives, including mental health programs.
  • Provide education and guidance to employees and management on occupational health matters.
  • Support the development of health promotion and disease prevention programs.
  • Assist in hazard identification and evaluation in collaboration with EHS.
  • Partner with business leaders to reduce disability-related costs and health-related risks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
