About The Position

Kiihealth is seeking an Occupational Health Nurse to join their team. This role will provide health services to employees, including surveillance testing, education, treatment of illness and injury, and follow-up. The position is casual with flexible hours, primarily on-site at the office or client locations in the Greater Toronto Area, ON. Requirements

  • Must be a Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years of experience as an RN.
  • Valid CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Previous disability case management experience.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge and understanding of disability legislation and regulations, including Duty to Accommodate, Employment Equity Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Human Rights Legislation, Accessibility Ontario Disability Act (AODA), Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Nice To Haves

  • Two to five years experience in Occupational Health Nursing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (OHN) or equivalent.
  • Certification in Occupational Health Nursing (expectation to complete this certification when requirements are met).
  • Willingness to obtain Other State nursing licensure to function as the Hub nurse resource.
  • A diploma (DOHN) and/or Certification in Occupational Health Nursing (COHN-C) is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience in Occupational Health Nursing is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Excellent interpersonal, diplomacy, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer programs including Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Case management of all occupational work claims (WSIB), including documentation, submission of forms, and providing regular updates.
  • Manage work reintegration and return to work for occupational (WSIB) and non-occupational (STD/LTD) claims.
  • Manage personal medical time off and return to work planning.
  • Maintain an electronic database of all employee health records.
  • Track employees undergoing treatment for illnesses and injuries sustained during employment.
  • Management of Medical Surveillance program, including fit for duty evaluations, immunizations, PFT, respirator fit testing, and audio screenings.
  • Provide OHU metrics as required by the functional site manager.
  • Meet with employees for health and wellness purposes related to work issues and recommend referrals.
  • Advise on ergonomic assessments in conjunction with Environment, Health & Safety to facilitate return to work.
  • Provide emergency response care and follow up with First Aid, CPR, and AED credentials.
  • Collaborate with onsite doctors and the medical community to develop patient treatment plans.
  • Participate and provide leadership for Wellness Programs, including mental health.
  • Educate site staff and management on health and safety issues.
  • Advise management and employees on mental and physical health concerns.
  • Create and manage disease prevention initiatives (exercise, healthy diet, smoking cessation).
  • Gather hazard and health data with EHS to investigate the effects of specific exposures on workers.
  • Work with business leaders to reduce the cost of disability claims and other health-related expenses.
  • Other duties as required and assigned.
