About The Position

This position is responsible for performing regulatory testing, injury/illness care, worker’s comp, and wellness education for employees within the nursing scope of practice, adhering to Client Standards, policies, procedures, and treatment care guidelines. The role involves providing medical care, assisting providers with injury and illness management, coordinating and documenting Workers' Comp claims, and maintaining electronic or paper medical records. Key duties include performing various regulatory tests such as respiratory evaluations, spirometry, audiometry, vision tests, urine tests, EKGs, immunizations, blood draws, stress tests, MicroFit, and heat stress assessments. The nurse may also provide First Aid, CPR, AED training, preventive health education, and maintain clinic utilization reports. Participation in general clinic operations, supply management, and communication with the Clinic Medical Director, Account Manager, Team Lead, and client are also essential. Ensuring appropriate return-to-work clearances and coordinating employee exams and medical surveillance are critical responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a valid California RN license
  • Must hold current BLS certification
  • 3–5 years RN experience required
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability of maintaining privacy and confidentiality.
  • Strong critical thinking skills; problem solving, and decision making.
  • Must have the ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Must be competent in the Windows operating system environment, Adobe Professional, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and learn other software as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing is highly preferred
  • 2-3 years’ experience in an urgent care, emergency department or occupational health setting preferred
  • Certification in Occupational Health preferred
  • Ergo assessment preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Provides medical care to clinic patients as requested/needed, and within the RN scope of practice, following treatment care guidelines set forth by the occupational health director.
  • Assist providers on Injury & Illness management
  • Assist providers in managing, coordinating, documentation of Workers Comp claims & communicates with Client’s WC claims carrier as needed.
  • Maintain Electronic Medical Record (EMR- Cority) or paper medical records and ensures complete & accurate documentation
  • Performs regulatory testing including but not limited to: Respiratory medical evaluation, spirometry, audiometry, vision tests, urine test, EKG, immunizations, blood draws, stress test, MicroFit, heat stress
  • May perform First Aid, CPR, AED, and other training as necessary
  • Provides preventive health education to employees as needed within scope of practice.
  • Maintains clinic utilization reports
  • Participates in general flow of clinic operations (answers phones, checks email, medical records, scheduling, filing, copying charts, traffic control).
  • Maintain clinic’s medical & office supplies in collaboration with ancillary staff
  • Maintains communication with the Clinic Medical Director, Account manager, Team Lead & client as necessary
  • Ensures that employees have appropriate return-to-work clearances.
  • Coordinates employee exams &medical surveillance
