Interested in joining us on our journey? We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Occupational Health Medical Assistant to join our team in Kentucky. The medical assistant will provide direct care to employees, support workplace health initiatives, and collaborate with safety and HR teams to promote a culture of wellness and injury prevention.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) required
  • Registered or Certified Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a community college
  • 3 years of relevant work experience in a medical facility (doctor’s office, long-term care facility, hospital) as a medical assistant
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Professional Certification required
  • Strong computer skills and capable of utilizing clinical systems, including EMR-Cority, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree or equivalent from an accredited Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant P rogram
  • Skills: K nowledge of workers’ compensation, ADA, and government (OSHA) regulations & additional education appropriate to the work setting .
  • Knowledge or additional education on medical surveillance , e.g., pulmonary function testing, hearing conservation (CAOHC), etc.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all levels of the workforce

Responsibilities

  • Assist in examination, treatment, and assistance of patients under direction of Physician, Advanced Practitioner, Physician Assistant and/or RN in compliance with state practice acts and regulations.
  • Obtain vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, vision, weight, and height, and record information in employee chart in an accurate, legal and appropriate manner.
  • Application of splints, braces and wound dressings.
  • Perform audiograms, pulmonary function testing, and other testing.
  • Prepare treatment rooms and patients for examination.
  • Inventories and orders medical supplies and materials as needed.
  • Perform routine CLIA waived laboratory tests/collects specimens for routine laboratory tests.
  • Collect urine drug screens and perform breath alcohol testing.
  • Schedule appointments and referrals; make follow-up phone calls to patients.
  • Perform administrative tasks and provide front desk/reception assistance.
  • Functional within all databases used, primarily EMR-Cority, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams, etc.
  • Comply with GE Appliances and Network policies regarding confidentiality.
  • Maintain & safeguard confidentiality of employee health information and occupational health records.
  • Comply with all policies related to Emergency Procedures as defined in Policies and Procedures, Medical Standards.
  • Know personal role in event of a disaster or emergency-situation.
  • Participate in site-specific health and wellness programs as indicated.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
