•$110,000 - $145,000

About The Position

The Observability Architect is accountable for delivering a scalable, outcome-driven full-stack observability architecture across Managed Services. The role ensures that monitoring data produces meaningful operational and business outcomes, improving service quality and operational efficiency while reducing alert noise and cost-to-serve. It owns the enterprise observability reference architecture and its effectiveness across current and evolving platforms, including LogicMonitor. The role leads observability governance, adoption, and transformation. It aligns the tool roadmap with global peers and works with service owners, architects, operations, ITSM, automation, and AIOps teams to establish observability standards and turn telemetry into trusted service intelligence for leadership reporting, customer communication, and value articulation. It also ensures observability supports contractual obligations, SLAs, security, compliance, and multi-service operational needs. The position is an escalation point for complex alert, incident, and telemetry issues, and is accountable for improving alert actionability, reducing non-actionable and duplicate alerts, decreasing MTTR, and reducing operational rework and cost-to-serve. It has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as IT, Computer Science, or Business Administration, or an accepted equivalent combination.
  • At least 8 years of experience in monitoring or observability, including at least 5 years in an MSP or multi-tenant environment.
  • Strong background with monitoring and observability platforms such as LogicMonitor, Datadog, Dynatrace, IBM Instana, Grafana, or similar APM/ITOM/AIOps platforms.
  • Experience with OpenTelemetry, log pipelines and cost optimization, CMDB and CI relationship modeling in ServiceNow, synthetics, NetFlow, vendor RFP scoring, and proofs of value.
  • Experience designing platform-level architectures for MSP, enterprise, or large multi-tenant environments.
  • Experience translating telemetry into business and service insights and improving operational efficiency through telemetry strategy.
  • Familiarity with compliance requirements and frameworks including CMMC, NIST, PCI, HIPAA/HITECH/HITRUST, and SOX.
  • Deep understanding of alerting strategies, signal quality, and operational workflows.
  • Ability to balance short-term operational realities with long-term architectural maturity.
  • Experience supporting NOC, Operations, or Monitoring teams through escalations, including alert tuning, telemetry troubleshooting, and resolution of complex monitoring issues.
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, multitasking, communication, stakeholder-management, and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to manage complex service environments and drive transformation.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties satisfactorily; reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
  • Must demonstrate honest, ethical, and professional conduct and comply with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • DevOps Institute Observability Foundation Certification.
  • LogicMonitor Certified Professional certification.
  • ITIL Foundation Certification or equivalent knowledge of IT service management principles.
  • Exposure to NOC, SOC, or MSP environments.
  • Knowledge of common MSP tools such as RMM, PSA, and documentation platforms.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or similar reporting tools.

Responsibilities

  • Own the enterprise observability reference architecture and be accountable for platform effectiveness, signal quality, and operational impact across Managed Services.
  • Ensure platform capabilities deliver measurable improvements in monitoring effectiveness, operational efficiency, and service value; evaluate vendors against business outcomes rather than feature parity.
  • Evaluate platform capabilities, limitations, and roadmap alignment against customer and Managed Services needs.
  • Ensure alerts entering ITSM are prioritized, correlated, and aligned with meaningful operational actions.
  • Ensure telemetry aligns with contractual obligations, SLA performance, and service delivery reality.
  • Ensure platform configuration and evolution support multi-service environments, security, compliance, and MSP operational requirements.
  • Act as the escalation point for Operations and Monitoring Engineers on complex alert, incident, and telemetry issues; ensure timely triage, root-cause analysis, and durable monitoring improvements.
  • Lead observability governance and the community of practice, maintaining an agreed tool roadmap aligned with global peers.
  • Drive adoption of outcome-based observability practices, shifting teams from monitoring coverage to monitoring effectiveness.
  • Partner with Service and Technology Architects to convert observability data into trusted service intelligence for leadership reporting, QBRs, and customer value articulation.
  • Partner with service owners and architects to define observability requirements in service design, lifecycle governance, and service readiness.
  • Align service architecture, operations, ITSM, and automation teams to operationalize observability standards.
  • Ensure observability outputs support transparent customer reporting, proactive service communication, and articulation of Managed Services’ value.
  • Establish KPI-driven review processes to improve monitoring quality and outcomes continuously.
  • Work with the AIOps team to ensure telemetry supports event correlation, root-cause determination, and automated remediation, including expansion of log ingestions.
  • Design observability to comply with applicable regulatory requirements for Logicalis and/or its customers.
  • Maintain environmental stability by applying standards to relevant architectural components and ensuring alignment with system requirements and best practices.
  • Assess new service offerings, including APM, synthetics, NetFlow, and observability capabilities for different service tiers.
  • Reduce non-actionable alert volume and improve signal-to-noise ratio, including appropriate parent/child relationships and CMDB alignment.
  • Reduce operational rework caused by duplicate, unclear, or low-value alerts; improve the percentage of alerts that result in meaningful incidents.
  • Improve MTTR through better telemetry, event correlation, and alert prioritization, and reduce cost-to-serve through monitoring efficiency and platform standardization.
  • Promote Logicalis’s mission and values, maintain knowledge of applicable laws and company policies, and conduct oneself in a manner consistent with customer service expectations.
