About The Position

The Ontario Northland Transportation Commission (ONTC) is seeking a Summer Student to work as an OBS Commissary Attendant in Cochrane. This role involves assisting with food orders, deliveries, inventory management, and cleaning duties to support the ONTC's mission of providing safe and reliable transportation services. Requirements

• Must be at least 15 years old prior to starting date and enrolled in full-time school
• Must be able to work full-time hours (40 hours per week)
• Ability to work shift work and weekends
• Good work ethic, energetic and enthusiastic
• Works independently with little supervision
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must be committed to Health and Safety
• Must pass a criminal record check, employment references and education verification.

Nice To Haves

• Preference given to students enrolled in a full-time post-secondary program, entering or finishing full-time post-secondary studies in 2026
• Previous cleaning/labour experience an asset
• Previous customer service experience is an asset.
• Preference will be given to qualified applicants who are fluent in both official languages (English, French) and Cree would be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assist with food, orders and deliveries, organize storage and ensure proper rotation.
• Assist with the daily delivery of supplies to food service cars when the PBX train is in operation.
• Perform cleaning duties such as sweeping and washing floors.
• Cross reference supplier invoices with actual order to ensure accuracy and payment.
• Assist with the coordination and shipment of dining car contents when cars are pulled out of service.
• Assist with tracking and monitoring commissary inventory.
