About The Position

The OB Technician performs duties in the care of patients in the hospital, under the direction of a Registered Nurse. This role provides care for patients and family/significant others across the life span based on physical, psycho-social, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the age of patients served in the patient care unit. Responsibilities include direct patient/family contact, departmental duties, material management, communication, and departmental housekeeping. The OB Technician follows and understands the standards and recommended practices according to department standards. The OB Technician is responsible for scrub duties assigned for cesarean section deliveries as well as occasional vaginal deliveries.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant.
  • Maintain American Heart Association Health Care Provider BLS.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – required at hire or before completion of orientation; renewed every 2 years.
  • Must possess current cognitive knowledge in medical terminology and abbreviation.

Nice To Haves

  • CNA and/or Patient Care Liaison (PCL) background.
  • Women’s Health hospital experience, especially in Labor & Delivery and postpartum.
  • Previous exposure to surgical scrub role or OB surgical procedures.
  • 1 year of previous Direct Patient Care experience in a Healthcare setting.
  • Surgical Scrub Tech Certification
