OB GYN Ultrasound Technician / Medical Sonographer
About The Position
Sentara Health is hiring an OB GYN Ultrasound Technician / Medical Sonographer in Harrisonburg, VA. This role involves conducting general diagnostic ultrasound imaging studies of patients under the direction of a qualified physician. Responsibilities include scanning patients to demonstrate correct anatomy/pathology, operating sonography and electronic radiology systems, preparing patient rooms and equipment, and maintaining supply inventory. The technician will also explain examinations and procedures to patients, complete departmental documentation, and be competent in the use and logging of infection control equipment.
Requirements
- HS Diploma or equivalency Required
- Completion of a training program acceptable to their registry board, ARRT, or ARDMS Required
- Registered ARRT or ARDMS required upon hire for ACR-accredited sites - Required
- For ICAVL-accredited sites, candidates who are not yet credentialed may be hired as provisional technical staff, must work under the direct supervision of a credentialed vascular/general sonographer, and must obtain the appropriate vascular/general sonography credential within two years of the start date of training Required

- Associate’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related field preferred
Responsibilities

- Scans patient for demonstration of correct anatomy/pathology.
- Operates sonography equipment.
- Operates the electronic radiology systems.
- Prepares patient room/equipment/medications.
- Maintains adequate supply inventory.
- Explains examination and procedure to patients.
- Completes departmental documentation.
- Competent in use and logging of infection control equipment.
