About The Position

This part-time OB/GYN RN position focuses on providing individualized, outcome-oriented nursing care through the nursing process. The role involves assessment, planning, providing care, coordinating cross-continuum care, and assessing intervention outcomes. It emphasizes clinically-based, risk-reducing care and coordination to facilitate cost-effective quality healthcare. The position requires excellent communication skills, a commitment to coaching patients on health-promoting behaviors, and the ability to work autonomously and in teams. Participation in quality improvement efforts, research, and evaluation processes is integral.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • RN - Registered Nurse license in Massachusetts.
  • BLS – Basic Life Support certification.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in ambulatory care nursing, knowledge, and skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing priorities and regulations.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Demonstrated skills in communication (verbal and written), interdisciplinary collaboration, creative problem solving, and critical thinking.
  • Ability to work autonomously and in teams.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • Previous Ambulatory Care RN experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of health system and community resources preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administering and documenting medications according to SSH policies and procedures.
  • Completing the medication reconciliation process.
  • Demonstrating safe procedures for medication and vaccine administration.
  • Developing, discussing, and communicating a prioritized problem and plan of care for each patient.
  • Developing, evaluating, and updating individualized patient plans and documenting outcomes.
  • Initiating patient outreach, identifying and documenting patient/family/significant other needs, and making appropriate interventions.
  • Continuing assessment/reassessment and identifying care needs within established nursing practice.
  • Documenting all patient care following department of nursing policy, department-based standards, disease processes, and nurse sensitive indicators.
  • Assessing/reassessing and documenting patient's response to each intervention.
  • Working on behalf of the patient/family and seeking help to represent them when they are unable to represent themselves.
  • Raising ethical questions and concerns with the clinical team and seeking resources to understand ethical decisions.
  • Actively communicating and collaborating with health team members, including primary care, specialty care, and ancillary providers and departments.
  • Facilitating care across the continuum to ensure patient needs are met in the right setting and at the right time.
  • Fostering a "Culture of Safety" through personal ownership and commitment to a safe environment.
  • Verifying patient identification with two identifiers prior to any procedure, including "time out", administration of care, medications, labeled specimens, and documenting confirmation.
  • Complying with current CDC hand hygiene guidelines and adhering to universal precautions.
  • Ensuring the environment meets regulatory requirements at all times.
  • Understanding and demonstrating individual roles and responsibilities in the event of ambulatory codes/emergency preparedness.
  • Assuming overall responsibility for own professional development by incorporating evidenced-based practice, research, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Obtaining at least 5 contact hours per year in the area of practice.
  • Practicing within the legal boundaries of the MA Nurse Practice Act and directing other licensed and non-licensed personnel as assigned.
  • Displaying the ability to accept and respond appropriately to feedback and recommendations for change.
  • Demonstrating professional working relationships with colleagues from all disciplines.
  • Utilizing critical thinking to analyze problems, identify solutions, and communicate effectively.
  • Being informed about changes in policy and procedure.
  • Utilizing technological solutions to work processes and practices, including Outlook, Epic, HealthStream, and Workday.
  • Utilizing software applications required by health system, nursing, and department standards.
  • Understanding how to operate in downtime.
  • Working within legal, regulatory, and ethical standards relevant to the position.
  • Complying with applicable policies and procedures.
  • Safeguarding the privacy and security of patient information.
  • Bringing potential compliance issues through the chain of command.
  • Complying with mandatory education requirements for compliance, privacy, and security programs.
