About The Position

Join Allina Health's premier OB/GYN Hospitalist team and be a critical part of a respected women's health program that delivers expert care when patients need it most. From managing complex obstetric situations to supporting community physicians and advancing team-based care, you'll help shape exceptional experiences for mothers, babies, and families throughout Minnesota. Our OB/GYN Hospitalist provide in-house obstetrical coverage of the labor and delivery unit, antepartum and postpartum units, and triage areas. Practice Details: Seven labor and delivery locations; 12,300 deliveries/year; 30 clinics; OBGYNs; OB hospitalists; Clinical Nurse Midwives, and Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialists. Quaternary hospital: Abbott Northwestern, Lv IV NICU; Tertiary hospitals - Mercy & United with level III NICUs, and 6 regional hospitals. Excellian, our EMR, is a software product from Epic and is considered one of the most comprehensive systems in the nation.

Requirements

  • Doctoral/Ph.D. level advanced degree in Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or foreign equivalent from an approved medical program
  • Completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accredited Residency training program in OB/GYN
  • Active, non-restricted medical license in MN (or ability to obtain)
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, or Allina in-house BLS training (within 30 days of hire)
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in OB/GYN upon hire required
  • Drug Enforcement Agency Certificate upon hire required
  • Prescription Monitoring Program upon hire required
  • National Provider Identifier upon hire required

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive inpatient OB/GYN care, including Labor & Delivery, postpartum management, obstetric emergencies, and inpatient gynecologic consultations.
  • Serve as a key member of a 24/7 hospitalist program, caring for both assigned and unassigned patients while ensuring rapid response to high-acuity clinical situations.
  • Collaborate closely with Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists, Certified Nurse Midwives, Family Medicine OB physicians, and community OB/GYN providers to deliver coordinated, team-based care.
  • Manage a diverse patient population ranging from routine obstetrics to medically and surgically complex maternal cases, including urgent operative deliveries.
  • Utilize Epic (Excellian) within a flexible hospitalist model offering shared day, night, weekend, and holiday coverage.
