About The Position

Women’s Care is a leading women’s healthcare group in the United States, dedicated to providing the highest quality of care for women through their reproductive years and beyond. The Obstetrics (OB) Coordinator will coordinate and consult with the obstetrics patients through their pregnancy. This role involves meeting with every new obstetrics patient, completing medical history intake, opening the OB flow sheet, and ensuring all necessary OB prenatal paperwork is completed. The coordinator will also review the pregnancy guidebook, provide maternity education, monitor OB blood work, handle referrals, contact non-compliant patients, pull delivery notes, conduct post-partum calls, review OB budgets, and work with financial staff to ensure payments are current. Additionally, the role requires answering patient questions, embodying the Women’s Care mission and core values, and complying with HIPAA regulations. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be a Medical Assistant who has graduated from a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • 1-3 years of healthcare experience within an OBGYN or OB practice/department.
  • Must have knowledge of OB practices and guidelines.
  • Excellent customer service.
  • Able to communicate medical information clearly.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Meticulous documentation and follow up.
  • Ability to use a computer and enter data in electronic medical record system, preferably eClinical Works (eCW).
  • Knowledge of medical office protocols, procedures, and processes (universal precautions, risk management, patient information confidentiality, etc.).
  • Must be dependable, reliable, and punctual.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and consult with obstetrics patients through their pregnancy.
  • Meet with every new obstetrics patient.
  • Complete the medical history intake with the patient and open the OB flow sheet.
  • Ensure OB prenatal paperwork is completed to include, NICA, consent to treat, consent to deliver, and financial agreements.
  • Review the pregnancy guidebook with the patient.
  • Provide maternity education to patients.
  • Monitor OB blood work and provide results if requested.
  • Handle referrals to maternal fetal medicine (MFM), nutritionist, and/or infusion center if needed.
  • Contact non-compliant patients to facilitate follow up.
  • Pull delivery notes and conduct post-partum calls.
  • Review and discuss OB budget.
  • Work with financial staff to ensure OB payments are current.
  • Answer patient questions and provide information within the scope of knowledge.
  • Demonstrate and embody the Women’s Care mission and core values.
  • Comply with all HIPAA rules, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
