O.R. VERIFICATION SPECIALIST
About The Position
This role is responsible for verifying all insurances for Same Day Surgery Cases, ensuring that patients' healthcare benefits cover all required procedures. The specialist will contact insurance companies to verify coverage levels and communicate closely with the OR Scheduling Supervisor and Director of Peri-Operative Services regarding potential problems. Additionally, this role involves scheduling surgeries for all surgeons in the Operating Room and Endoscopy departments, communicating with doctors' offices to obtain Lien/LOP from attorneys if applicable, and accurately entering data into patient accounts, updating patient benefits, and confirming the validity of all authorizations.
Requirements
- H.S. Diploma
- 3+ years experience in a hospital and or surgical center setting in the Scheduling and Coordination Department.
- Excellent computer skills
Nice To Haves
- college degree in related field preferred
- Health care certification (i.e.Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, Veterinary Assistant, Lab Assistant, Phlebotomist) desired
