About The Position

Lee Obstetrics and Gynecology is committed to our mission of providing quality, attentive, responsive care for the women of Lee County and the surrounding area. To put the patient's health and well-being first and promote women's health in all that we do. Our Insurance Verification Specialist facilitates patient access to care by managing insurance verification, obtaining pre-authorizations, and resolving billing issues. They act as a liaison between patients, providers, and insurance carriers to maximize coverage, explain benefits, and navigate complex financial or social barriers to treatment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 6 months to 2 years of experience in healthcare, insurance, or a medical office setting.
  • Knowledge of insurance verification
  • Knowledge of authorization processes
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) software.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Verify patient insurance eligibility and obtain necessary pre-authorizations for procedures and services.
  • Educate patients and families on their specific insurance benefits, coverage limitations, and potential out-of-pocket costs.
  • Assist eligible patients in applying for alternate third-party resources, such as Medicaid.
  • Work closely with the billing department to resolve insurance claim issues and ensure timely reimbursement from payers.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient demographic and insurance information in our electronic health record (EHR) system.
