NVH CAE Engineer

FordAllen Park, MI
$109,512 - $166,200Hybrid

About The Position

Ford Motor Company is seeking an NVH CAE Engineer for their Research and Advanced Engineering team in Allen Park, Michigan. This is a hybrid position requiring the employee to live within a reasonable commuting distance from the worksite. The role involves performing NVH CAE analysis for next-generation Model e products in areas such as Body, Interiors, Closures, Seats, and Frames. The engineer will coordinate with D&R engineers to implement design resolutions using linear CAE analysis, develop and complete CAE models and analyses following Ford's guidelines, and direct other analysts in model creation and analysis. Responsibilities also include conducting DOE studies, using optimization tools to meet performance requirements while balancing conflicting attributes like cost and mass, developing CAE-based countermeasures, and presenting findings in CAE/design reviews. Maintaining records of all CAE models is also a key part of the role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • 4 years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
  • 3 years of experience with creating CAE models and visualizing results by utilizing pre-processing tools and post-processing tools including Altair Hypermesh, and ANSA.
  • 3 years of experience with debugging and generating results to drive robust designs by conducting NVH CAE analysis using Nastran.
  • 3 years of experience analyzing test and CAE data, drawing appropriate conclusions, and making solid design recommendations to meet vehicle component and system requirements.
  • 3 years of experience conducting full vehicle NVH CAE analysis using Altair NVH Director or Ansa NVH Console for model creation, assembly and post-processing.
  • 2 years of experience optimizing designs for mass and performance using optimization tools including Tosca or Optistruct.

Responsibilities

  • Perform NVH CAE analysis of next generation Model e products, in one or more of the following areas: Body, Interiors, Closures, Seats and Frames.
  • Coordinate with D&R engineers to drive design resolutions using linear CAE analysis.
  • Develop component, system, and vehicle-level CAE models, as well as complete analysis following Ford CAE modeling/analysis guidelines.
  • Direct other analysts to create CAE models and run analysis.
  • Conduct DOE studies, while utilizing optimization tools to meet performance requirements within the constraints of conflicting attributes, such as cost and mass.
  • Develop CAE based countermeasures to meet requirements and work with program members to develop design proposals that meet cost and weight targets.
  • Participate in CAE/design reviews to present and communicate findings with other team members.
  • Maintain records of all CAE models and document as needed.

Benefits

  • Immediate medical, dental, and prescription drug coverage
  • Flexible family care, parental leave, new parent ramp-up programs, subsidized back-up child care and more
