About The Position

The Nutrition Services Cashier provides customer service and performs cashiering duties in a food service area. The position supports daily retail operations by processing transactions, restocking items, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting with food and beverage service. The cashier helps ensure a positive dining experience by following established procedures and safety standards.

Requirements

A Food Handler’s Permit, as applicable under state and county laws, is required.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent customer service and time management skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Basic math skills and attention to detail.
Familiarity with POS systems or computerized transaction systems.
Commitment to cleanliness, safety, and continuous quality improvement.

Nice To Haves

1–2 years of cashiering or food service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Operate a cash register or point-of-sale (POS) system to process customer transactions accurately and efficiently.
Maintain cash drawer accuracy and prepare deposits at the end of the shift in accordance with established procedures.
Support retail food service operations, including line serving, coffee preparation, and upkeep of beverage stations.
Maintain cleanliness of dining and cashier areas, including sweeping, mopping, wiping counters, and cleaning tables.
Inventory and restock food and non-food items in assigned areas, following First-In, First-Out (FIFO) product rotation guidelines.
Set up merchandise and food items for daily purchase and consumption.
Ensure refrigerators and displays are clean, stocked, and organized.
Provide courteous, helpful service to customers, answering questions and addressing concerns as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Comply with all policies and standards.
