About The Position

The Nutrition & Wellness Intern supports Dining & Hospitality Services in promoting nutrition education, food allergy awareness, and overall student wellness within a collegiate environment. This student-facing role focuses on program implementation, peer education, creative engagement, and campus-wide collaboration to encourage healthy behaviors. The intern will assist in delivering interactive programming and resources that support a diverse student population.

Requirements

  • Current Howard University undergraduate or graduate student in nutrition, dietetics, public health, health promotion, or related field
  • Interest in student wellness, nutrition education, and community health
  • Creative mindset with the ability to engage a diverse student population
  • Strong organizational and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with social media and content creation preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning and executing nutrition-focused programs such as tabling events, food samplings, cooking demonstrations, lunch-and-learn sessions, health fairs, and guest speaker events
  • Support initiatives that promote balanced eating, mindful food choices, and overall wellness among students
  • Develop creative and engaging approaches to encourage student participation in nutrition education
  • Serve as a peer educator on food allergies and dietary needs within dining environments
  • Provide student-facing support by answering basic questions and directing students to appropriate dining resources
  • Assist in promoting allergen awareness and safe dining practices
