About The Position

The Nutrition Services Truck Driver is a Part Time position, responsible for conducting mobile food distributions and collecting food donations from various food retailers throughout Nassau County. The driver is responsible for ensuring proper loading, unloading, preparation, inspection, and safe operation of delivery vehicles while adhering to all applicable safety, sanitation, and transportation regulations.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a truck driver.
  • Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • High school graduate or equivalent is required.
  • Five years driving experience required.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License.

Nice To Haves

  • One year commercial driving experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a delivery truck to pick up, transport, and deliver food and other goods to mobile food distribution sites and the Barnabas Center pantry.
  • Safely load, unload, handle, and transport food products, supplies, and other cargo, including heavy items.
  • Plan and follow efficient delivery routes to ensure timely pickups and deliveries.
  • Maintain vehicles in safe operating condition and accurately complete required logs, records, and documentation.
  • Deliver goods in a professional manner while providing excellent customer service and promoting a positive image of Barnabas Center.
  • Serve as a brand ambassador by representing Barnabas Center professionally in all interactions with clients, partners, donors, and the public.
  • Direct customer questions, concerns, and inquiries to the Nutrition Services Manager as appropriate.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to identify mechanical issues, ensure safety compliance, and perform routine preventive maintenance checks.
  • Comply with all applicable traffic laws, Department of Transportation regulations, and Barnabas Center policies and procedures.
  • Promptly report vehicle defects, accidents, incidents, safety concerns, or regulatory violations to the Nutrition Services Manager.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment and assist with warehouse and distribution operations as needed.
