About The Position

This is a 12-month position for 261 days, with a starting pay of $21.38/NS-6, and an additional $1.00 differential for a valid Class A CDL. The salary is based on verifiable job-related experience as set by the Board of Trustees. The role involves performing daily preventative maintenance checks on vehicles and equipment, maintaining cleanliness of vehicles, routes, warehouse docks, and work areas. Drivers must observe all laws while operating a CFISD vehicle, including wearing a safety belt. Key responsibilities include making daily deliveries of food bins, frozen and dry case goods, small equipment, fresh produce, and lugs to satellite kitchens, ensuring the quality, temperature, and appearance of delivered items. Drivers will also return empty bins, recyclables, and pallets to the production center and warehouses, and assist in picking product, building pallets, inventory counting, arranging products, and cleaning warehouses. Additional duties include assisting with school shut downs for renovation/remodels, transporting satellite freezer/cooler inventory during power outages or inclement weather, and complying with employee standards of conduct. The position requires regular and reliable attendance, a professional attitude, and positive interactions with staff, customers, and vendors. Drivers must complete all assignments by the end of their shift and respond to changes in workload. The District reserves the right to require employees to perform duties at any facility for business purposes. Other duties as assigned by the Warehouse Manager and Nutrition Service Director.

Requirements

  • Ability to speak, read, and understand the English language.
  • Physically able to perform assigned duties; frequently required to lift up to 100 lbs., walk, stoop, stand, climb ramps, ladders, stairs, and scaffolds.
  • Continuously required to work with machinery.
  • Physically capable of handling food bins weighing up to 500 lbs.
  • Physically able to work in outdoors or indoors in non-air conditioned or sub-zero environments.
  • Physically able to operate a 4000 lb. fork lift and a manual & electric pallet jack.
  • Ability to obtain a Food Handler’s Certification within 60 days of employment.
  • Hold a valid Texas Driver License (Class B or A CDL) with an acceptable driving record as established by the district.
  • Able to work an 8 hour shift with flexibility between the hours of 2am-3pm.
  • Occasional overtime is required.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily preventative maintenance checks for vehicles and equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness of vehicle, route, warehouse docks, and work areas with approved cleaning solutions and tools by the Nutrition Services Department.
  • Observe all laws while operating a CFISD vehicle including wearing a safety belt.
  • Make daily deliveries of food bins, frozen and dry case goods, small equipment, fresh produce, and lugs to satellite kitchens in the designated storage locations.
  • Ensure quality, temperature, and appearance of the delivered items; report any problems to the Lead.
  • Return empty bins, recyclables, and pallets to the production center and warehouses.
  • Abide by applicable safety regulations and SOP’s for receiving, delivering, and shipping products.
  • Assist in picking product and building pallets for deliveries to satellite locations.
  • Assist in inventory counting, arranging of products, and the cleaning of warehouses.
  • Assist with school shut downs for renovation/remodels.
  • Transport satellite freezer/coolers inventory to warehouses during power outages or inclement weather events.
  • Comply with employee standards of conduct (dress code, personal appearance, behavior, and be ready to work at the scheduled starting time) as specified in the Nutrition Service Handbook.
  • Support the Nutrition Department with regular and reliable attendance.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and positive interactions will all district staff, customers, and vendors.
  • Complete all assignments by the end of shift; respond to changes in work load as assigned by the Lead.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Warehouse Manager and Nutrition Service Director.
