About The Position

The Nutrition Services Aide helps prepare therapeutic and modified diets for patients and prepares meals for employees, visitors, and special functions. The role includes assembling and delivering patient trays and other food requests, maintaining food temperatures, and cleaning and sanitizing assigned areas. Aides organize and manage their time to complete assignments and may be required to work weekdays or weekends, evenings, or night shifts as needed.

Requirements

• Possess a food handler's permit if mandated by state or county regulations.

Nice To Haves

• Training in food preparation for therapeutic diets.
• Recent institutional cooking experience.
• Special function cooking experience.
• Knowledge of food safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Maintain proper temperatures for hot and cold foods.
• Interpret written recipes and follow written and verbal orders, requests, and instructions.
• Break down carts and remove scraps from patient trays.
• Assemble and deliver late patient trays, supplements, nourishments, and special requests as needed.
• Portion, weigh, and garnish food according to menus and specific diet instructions.
• Assemble patient trays to meet timetables.
• Assist patients in completing menus.
• Clean and sanitize assigned areas.
• Organize, plan, and manage time effectively to complete assignments.
• Help prepare therapeutic and modified diets and meals for employees, visitors, and special functions.
