About The Position

The Nevada Department of Agriculture (NDA), Division of Food and Nutrition, is seeking to fill one vacant Nutrition Program Coordinator position in Las Vegas. Under direction of the School Nutrition Supervisor, this position is responsible for performing off-site and on-site program compliance reviews of sponsors, agencies and operators. As a lead for the Administrative (compliance) and Procurement Reviews, the position is responsible for program implementation, which includes reviewing menu and production records; preparing reports and other documents; reviewing and evaluating corrective action plans; monitoring progress; and analyzing program data to ensure compliance with both State and various USDA Child Nutrition program requirements. In addition, this position provides guidance and technical assistance as required; creates, develops and presents training to staff, sponsors and stakeholders; interprets and explains federal and state regulations; updates program manuals and forms; and develops materials such as tracking spreadsheets and reports. Overnight and 25% travel is a requirement of this position. The preferred candidate for this position will have experience performing program evaluations, quality assurance and compliance reviews of school or community nutrition services. Nutrition Program Coordinators plan, coordinate, monitor, and perform compliance reviews of school and/or community nutrition program sponsors to ensure compliance with federal and State program requirements.

Requirements

  • One or more years of applicable experience as described in the job duties
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education

Responsibilities

  • Develop administrative review schedules and organize and oversee review teams.
  • Coordinate and perform off-site and on-site reviews and/or desk audits.
  • Request, compile, and review sponsor documents, conduct interviews, and observe the delivery of services.
  • Provide recommendations for technical assistance and/or corrective actions.
  • Report any issues, concerns, and/or problems regarding the review to leadership.
  • Compile, organize, review, analyze, and maintain information and statistical data for compliance.
  • Create and disseminate analytical, narrative, and statistical reports on activities.
  • Coordinate with contending parties to address areas of non-compliance and steps to regain compliance.
  • Evaluate corrective action plans, recommend revisions, and monitor sponsors to ensure adherence.
  • Recommend financial restitution, disqualification, and/or termination from the program.
  • Liaise between stakeholders and sponsors and organize and participate in program reviews.
  • Perform program outreach, education, guidance, and technical assistance.
  • Interpret and disseminate federal and State laws, regulations, and agency policies and procedures.
  • Create, develop and present training and presentations to staff, sponsors, customers, and stakeholders.
  • Aid in the development, review, recommendation, and implementation of program policies and procedures.
  • Develop, review, update, and implement program and procedural manuals, forms, spreadsheets, and logs.
  • Assist management in grants administration.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
