This position provides professional nutrition education and breastfeeding counseling and support to clients at any site or location in the geographic area covered by the Polk/Hardee WIC Program. The role involves completing medical and nutrition histories, developing and evaluating nutrition education plans, certifying clients for the WIC program, assigning food prescriptions, reviewing health records, and referring high-risk clients to a Public Health Nutritionist. The position also assists the Public Health Nutritionist Supervisor with clinic supervision, conducts quality improvement monitoring, and completes administrative forms. Additionally, the role requires participation in staff meetings, in-service trainings, and other staff development activities, as well as assisting with outreach and community events. Compliance with all Department of Health and WIC security and confidentiality rules and regulations is mandatory. This position may involve serving clients who speak only Spanish, Creole, or other languages, potentially requiring interpreter duties or implementation of the Department’s Limited English Proficiency Plan. Performs other duties as required, including additional interpreter duties consistent with skill level and need.
