About The Position

Gardner Health Services is currently recruiting to fill a Nutrition Education Coordinator position. This is a full-time position within Gardner's Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program located at the CompreCare Health Center at 3030 Alum Rock Ave. San Jose, CA 95127. Under general supervision of the WIC Director, The Nutrition Education Coordinator provides nutrition assessment, counseling, and education to all level WIC participants. The position assists and oversees the development, implementation, evaluation of the WIC Program, and evaluation of all nutrition education activities. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, organized, with strong customer service skills. Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but not required. Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics, required.
  • Registered Dietitian (including credentialing through the commission on dietetics registration (CDR).
  • Basic Computer Skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of maternal and child nutrition; clinical nutrition; community nutrition; current trends in nutrition; nutrition education methods/materials; nutrition education methods/materials; and hi-risk nutrition factors.
  • Ability to perform nutrition assessments, counsel participants and effectively use and evaluate nutrition education methods and materials.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum six (6) months WIC experience, preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, preferred.
