About The Position

The Nutrition Care Representative (NCR) is a “point person” for food service issues affecting patients, other nutrition services staff and nursing service staff. The NCR is responsible for assisting patients with menu selection and ensuring that patients receive meals and nourishments in accordance with diet prescriptions and individual preferences.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year experience in a patient care environment.
  • Ability to read, speak, write and understand English.
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills and be able to follow basic oral and written instructions.
  • Meets the physical demands of the job.
  • Employees must have cash handling and money counting skills.
  • Must be dependable – no excessive absenteeism/tardiness - per department policy.
  • Understands and follows safety and sanitation procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • College course work in clinical nutrition or nutrition therapy may be substituted for work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Screening patients for nutritional risk.
  • Taking patient food orders over the phone and entering them into our computer system.
  • Updating patient information into our ordering system as required.
  • Correcting menu choices under supervision and alerting the supervisor and clinical nutrition staff to any patient issues.
  • Visiting patient rooms to assist with ordering meals.
  • Serving patient trays and nourishments.
