About The Position

At NorthBay Health, the Nutrition Associate II (NA II) warmly greets and welcomes patients, responds to their questions, and guides them through the food and nutrition meal ordering process. The NA II interacts respectfully with the patient and/or patient’s representative to obtain and record accurate and complete information regarding meal/food preferences. The NA II responds expeditiously in a professional and concerned manner to patient inquiries/requests. She/he takes initiative to resolve patient issues to the best of their ability and within therapeutic diet restrictions. The NA II promptly notifies the Supervisor or Clinical Nutrition Supervisor when additional support may be needed to meet patient expectations. The NA II maintains and promotes an attitude of professionalism and empathy as reflected by courteous actions, maintenance of confidentiality, and appropriate presentation of self. The NA II consistently demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills. The NA II assists with meal tray assembly, tray delivery and pick-up, answers patient-related phone calls, and remains responsible for any food service duties assigned by the Supervisor or Manager. Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED preferred.
  • Current Safe Food Handler’s certificate required.
  • One to three years of customer engagement experience and/or service-centered experience required.
  • One year of food service experience or healthcare experience is required.
  • Current enrollment in a dietetics program or completion of a dietetics program or degree is accepted.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively articulate thoughts into a useful and meaningful discussion.
  • Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skill in basic nutrition care and therapeutic diets.
  • Math, organization, and excellent communication skills required.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to service excellence including, but not limited to professionalism, customer focus, compassion, strong listening skills, and a warm demeanor.
  • Consistently exhibits empathy, optimism, resourcefulness, and cultural competency in interactions with others.
  • Extremely open to learning new things and teaming with others in a collaborative environment.
  • Proven track record of conducting him/herself in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the unique complexities and challenges of the healthcare environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within a healthcare environment preferred.
  • Some working knowledge in the areas of nutrition, therapeutic diet restrictions, and medical terminology is preferred.
