About The Position

Yakima Neighborhood Health Services (YNHS), established in 1975, is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life and equity in our communities. We provide accessible and integrated health and social services, work to end homelessness, and offer unique learning opportunities for health professions students. We are seeking a passionate team member to join our community-focused patient service team.

Requirements

Requires sitting for long periods of time, working at a computer terminal.
Some bending and stretching required.
Ability to lift papers or boxes up to 30 pounds occasionally.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination required for use of calculators, phones, computer keyboards and other equipment.
Requires ability to sustain concentration in a noisy and fast-paced environment.
May be exposed to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.

Responsibilities

Interview applicants to obtain eligibility information, with sensitivity toward clients’ needs.
Conduct client interviews including medical history, anthropometric measurements, 24-hour recall, and hematocrit.
Maintain confidentiality of clients and staff.
Correctly interpret eligibility information and document this information in a computer file.
Provide nutrition and health education to clients, including WIC rules and regulations.
Refer clients to other community resources as needed.
Issue benefits and schedule clients.
Participate in quality assurance standards through peer review.
Assist with nutrition-related projects as requested.
Participate in staff in-service meetings.
Perform clerical tasks as needed.
Assume janitorial duties as required.
Maintain an organized, clean, efficient, and confidential work area.
Represent YNHS in local meetings as requested.
Perform related work and other tasks as requested.
