About The Position

Join our team as a Nutrition Assistant and help provide healthy meals that fuel children's growth, learning, and success every day! We invite qualified applicants to apply for our Nutrition Assistant opening within the Bombeck Center. This is a full time benefit eligible position that offers health, dental and vision insurance, retirement, disability, tuition assistance for you and your dependents, vacation/sick accrual and holiday pay. The Nutrition Assistant is responsible for supporting the Nutrition Specialist to prepare and disperse nutritious meals for the children, ages 5 weeks to 6 years, who attend the Bombeck Center. This also includes abiding by the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and ODJFS licensing food safety requirements. This position will work with the Nutrition Specialist to maintain a clean and organized kitchen, storage area and assists with daily center laundry needs. The Bombeck Family Learning Center strives to provide the very best care and educational experiences for infants, toddlers and preschoolers ages 6 weeks to 5 years old by working in partnership with families as the children grow and develop. The Center is affiliated with the University of Dayton School of Education and Health Sciences. The Bombeck Family Learning Center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and holds a 5-star rating from the State of Ohio's Step Up to Quality rating system.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to organize and efficiently prepare food, maintain kitchen and do laundry
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with other staff members
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year experience as a Nutrition Assistant or cook
  • Knowledge of nutritional requirements for children 6 weeks through 6 years
  • Knowledge of CACFP Program
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Support the Nutrition Specialist to prepare and disperse nutritious meals for children ages 5 weeks to 6 years.
