About The Position

The Nutrition Assistant I participates in and supports healthcare foodservice operations, working with facility staff to provide nutritional care to patients and meet the dietary and wellness needs of those served. The role requires excellent customer service for patients, guests, and staff, and a positive, professional approach. Responsibilities include preparing and serving food according to menus and dietary requirements, maintaining food safety and sanitation standards, supporting retail and patient meal services, and completing utility, inventory, cleaning, and catering tasks.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• No experience necessary.
• If required by state, county, or local health code, obtain a food handler permit within 30 days of hire or within the period required by the applicable health code. Specified jurisdictions may require particular credentials or a permit upon hire.

• Cashier experience.

Responsibilities

• Follow healthcare foodservice standards and regulations, including monitoring food temperatures, preventing cross-contamination, and meeting personal hygiene and sanitation requirements.
• Maintain proper labeling and storage of food products, equipment, and machinery according to facility guidelines.
• Prepare and serve food according to menus and dietary requirements, use necessary kitchen equipment, and know ingredients to address food allergy requests.
• Provide properly portioned and attractively presented meals in accordance with organizational standards.
• Perform cashiering, retail service, cold food preparation, and assembly, delivery, and retrieval of patient trays.
• Complete utility and maintenance assignments, including dishwashing, catering support, inventory management, and cleaning equipment and work areas.
• Provide excellent customer service to patients, guests, and staff.
