About The Position

Wellness & Health Promotion Services: Wellness and Health Promotion Services promotes a culture of well-being where students identify and practice lifelong skills that improve quality of life. We are recognized as leaders in dynamic, innovative, and culturally relevant programming that promotes student well-being. The Opportunity: The Nutrition and Outreach Coordinator coordinates campus wellness programming, with a focus on planning and delivering nutrition training, cooking classes, and demonstrations. This role organizes and leads peer educators in conducting outreach on various health topics, including alcohol and other drugs, nutrition, wellness coaching, and sexual health. Additionally, the Coordinator facilitates wellness workshops and outreach events to support the health of the campus community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
  • Valid Class E driver’s license.
  • Must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position, and the university cannot accommodate H‑1B transfers or employment-based visa processing for individuals currently sponsored by another employer.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in wellness coaching and/or nutrition specialist certification.
  • Food handler and/or kitchen manager certifications.
  • Previous supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute comprehensive campus nutrition initiatives, including interactive cooking demonstrations, skill-based culinary classes, and evidence-based wellness workshops.
  • Curate instructional content that translates complex nutritional science into accessible, actionable habits for a diverse student population.
  • Strategize and oversee high-impact health promotion campaigns and outreach initiatives to increase campus-wide wellness literacy.
  • Direct the Peer Education program, serving as the primary mentor for student advocates through specialized curriculum development and leadership training.
  • Provide holistic supervision and professional development for graduate and undergraduate staff, ensuring alignment with departmental goals and high standards of service delivery.
  • Manage daily task delegations and performance evaluations to foster a collaborative and growth-oriented work environment.
  • Cultivate and maintain strategic alliances with Registered Student Organizations (RSOs), student agencies, and academic departments to integrate health promotion into the broader campus culture.
  • Bridge campus and community by developing sustainable partnerships with external healthcare providers and public health organizations.
  • Represent the department on institutional and community committees, contributing expertise to multidisciplinary workgroups and wellness task forces.
  • Conduct 1-on-1 wellness coaching sessions, utilizing motivational interviewing and behavior-change theories to support individual student health goals.
  • Execute auxiliary projects and evolving duties as directed by the Assistant Director or departmental leadership.
